Pioneer Legacy Performances
“Great for families! From the foot
stompin’ hoedown to the last amen, Pioneer Legacy inspires and entertains,
so, bring the kids and be prepared to laugh, cry, and feel the spirit
of the Pioneers,” suggests Lynne Thompson, Pioneer Legacy author
and creator.
The emotion and drama of the Mormon
trek comes to life as the story of pioneers, George and Elizabeth Fox,
unfolds. Distraught over the loss of her tiny baby, Elizabeth hears
his cries in her mind and becomes lost as she goes to comfort him.
After 50 men spend two days searching and her footprints are discovered
near the Green River she is presumed drowned. Her husband reluctantly,
takes their three children on to Salt Lake, writing messages on the
rocks along the way for people to look for her.
“Elizabeth’s story brings a tear
to your eye and a smile to your face as the pioneer spirit moves front
and center,” says Thompson. “The faith promoting love story is told
through music, dance and drama with the professional Legacy Dance
Theater Company performing along with children from the Green
River area giving the show a touch of home,”
“I can feel this story in my
bones,” says Shannon Otte, the show director and author of the narration
that reflects George’s dilemma: should he continue searching for his
wife on the plains of Wyoming or take their three children on to Salt
Lake.
The original score, written by David
Thompson, features vocalist Katie Thompson, (Forgotten Carols, Safe
